Insects and other pests can become a pain in your home, especially during summer and autumn months, but there are things that you can do to prevent these from annoying you. If you are looking for ways to prevent rats, mice, and insects from entering your home, below you will find some excellent advice on how to keep your home pest free. Follow these tips, and you will not have to worry about pests and rodents infesting your home this summer.
Block Up The Entry Points
You will want to ensure that there is no access to your home for mice and insects, which will mean you will have to go around the exterior of your home and block all entry points, no matter how small they are. During the warmer months, you may be tempted to leave your doors and windows open which many of us do. However, this is when a lot of insects and pests can enter your home, so one way to combat this is to add fly screens to your doors and windows which will prevent them from entering.

Use A Pest Control System
When it comes to pests such as mice, you can use an electromagnetic device which plugs into a wall socket and creates an electromagnetic field which the mice hate, which is domestic pest control you can rely on. With these types of systems, it creates an environment which is not appealing to the mice, but it will not affect your family, including pet cats and dogs.
Keep Your Home Clean
You will also need to keep your home clean and not leave any food out which can attract pests such as mice, as well as flies and other insects. Make sure that you put food in a sealable container and store correctly, and do not leave rubbish and make sure that you put it in the bin. Where possible, try not to leave rubbish in bin bags lying around the outside of your home, instead put these in the bin which will prevent pests trying to get at any food inside the bin bag.
Clean Up Your Garden
Doing a quick research will help you get more tips on how to ward off pests from the inside of your home. However, you should not forget the outside, such as your garden. You will want to trim, and bushes or trees that are outside of your home and are touching the walls, as these can act as bridges for pests to get to your home. Many people will use tree bark and mulch to cover the flower beds which is an ideal shelter for many kinds of pests. An alternative to using this is to use gravel or stone instead which will make for a less appealing shelter for them. If you compost your garden waste, make sure that this is kept in a plastic container which will not only prevent pests from getting into the compost, but if there is a lid, it will also help to avoid bad smells.
